In December 2023, Amarenco submitted their commitment to establishing a science-based net-zero target, consistent with the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
In December 2025, we validated Amarenco’s Transition Plan with the Excom and the Board, and submitted our targets for validation to SBTi.
We are therefore very proud to now have concrete and ambitious decarbonisation targets:
Amarenco is committed to reducing its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 63% by 2035 compared with the 2024 baseline year (reference scope: 100%
Amarenco is committed to reducing its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90% by 2050 compared with the 2024 baseline year (100% scope)
Amarenco is committed to reducing its Scope 3 emissions by 66.3% per MWh by 2035 compared with the 2024 baseline year (scope excluding storage)
Amarenco is committed to reducing its Scope 3 emissions by 97% per MWh by 2050 compared with the 2024 baseline year (scope: excluding storage)
Furthermore, Amarenco is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050
About SBTi
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is an organisation dedicated to corporate climate action that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in tackling the climate crisis. We develop standards, tools and guidance that enable companies to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets aligned with what is necessary to keep global warming below catastrophic levels and to reach carbon neutrality by 2050 at the latest. SBTi is established as a charitable organisation, with a subsidiary that hosts our target validation services. Our partners are CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the We Mean Business coalition, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
